DCH Donates Hospital Beds to Tuscaloosa Area Schools for Career Training
Thanks to hospital beds donated by the DCH Health System, children in schools around Tuscaloosa will get hands-on training for careers in health care.
In a Tuesday social media post, a DCH spokesperson said they are donating more than 20 hospital beds to local schools in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama and West AlabamaWorks! so students have the most realistic environment possible as they consider their futures.
Donny Jones, the Chamber's COO and Executive Director of West AlabamaWorks!, said the donation from DCH is another way for his organization to help kids narrow down their career paths.
"Our ongoing partnership with DCH is enriching the learning experience of the students in West Alabama by integrating industry practices into the classroom. This generous donation will provide students with hands-on training using the tools employed in the local industry."
One school to benefit from the donation is the Hale County College & Career Academy, where director Marlon Murray praised DCH for providing beds to important programs there.
"The Hale County College & Career Academy is appreciative of the partnership with DCH," Murray said. :DCH donated several hospital beds and infant nursery cribs for the Health Science HOSA program. The newly modernized hospital beds will enhance the bedside skills, patient mobility training, and body mechanics of the students enrolled in the Patient Care Technician PCT class. Lastly, this is just one of many ways DCH gives back to the surrounding communities."
The Chamber's President and CEO Kyle South also thanked DCH and its leadership for continuing to support their missions across West Alabama.
This is a great example of local business & industry investing in the children of our community while also preparing the workforce of the future," South said. "The Chamber couldn't ask for a better partner than DCH to help meet those needs"
