DCH Foundation Honors Randall Family for Cancer Center Pastoral Care Program
The DCH Foundation recently gathered to honor a family of beloved local philanthropists and the pastoral care program that bears their name within the Manderson Cancer Center.
The Pettus Randall Pastoral Care Program places chaplains with cancer patients and their families for confidential, one-on-one spiritual and emotional support, and was born out of the family's own experience. Pettus Randall was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2002 and was treated at what is now the Manderson Cancer Center.

In a press release provided by DCH, his widow Cathy Randall said the care the family received during his illness is what the program now passes on to others.
"Pettus was the love of my life and would have given so much more to this world had cancer not taken him at age 57. It is deeply meaningful to see his legacy honored through this program," she said. "The compassion and encouragement we received during his cancer journey brought us great comfort. Knowing that his name now carries that same care forward to other patients and families is a beautiful and lasting tribute to him."
The foundation said a cancer diagnosis often brings emotional, social and spiritual needs, both for the patient and for the people closest to them, that go beyond physical treatment.
Members of the Randall family, DCH leadership, foundation staff and others connected to the program attended the event.
"The Randall Family's generosity has created a legacy of compassion that continues to touch patients and families when they need it most," said Brandt LaPish, vice president of development for DCH Health System and executive director of the DCH Foundation. "This celebration was an opportunity to express our gratitude to the Randall Family and recognize the meaningful difference the Pettus Randall Pastoral Care Program continues to make."
The DCH Foundation was founded in 1973 and raises money from donors and community partners to support programs, services and technology across DCH Health System.
