The Alabama Crimson Tide boasted the No. 2 recruiting class in the 2022 cycle, finishing just behind SEC West rival, Texas A&M. Signing day may have come and gone but the Tide is never done looking for talent to add.

The Alabama Crimson Tide is adding Tuscaloosa Academy standout Jack Standeffer to its roster as a 2022 preferred walk-on.

Standeffer helped the Knights reach the AISA Class 3A State Championship Game and was a pivotal part of Tuscaloosa Academy's undefeated region record.

As a wide receiver he hauled in 56 receptions for 888 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2021. He was also a game-changer in the kicking returning game for the Knights. As a senior he was responsible for 1,482 all-purpose yards and 11 total touchdowns.

He was one of three Knights to earn ASWA First Team All State and owns the AISA single game receiving yards record with a 12 catch game for 238 yards in 2021.

The receiver received a handful of opportunities at the Division 3 and NAIA level but had his sights set on a bigger stage.

After the season Standeffer began reaching out to larger schools about potentially walking on. South Alabama gave him his first opportunity but not long after came the Crimson Tide. What bigger stage than playing for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide?

"Of course getting to play at the greatest program of all time, I was really happy get that information and to go ahead and do it (commit as a P.W.O)," said Standeffer.

Standeffer is still playing baseball and wrapping up his senior year at Tuscaloosa Academy but will enroll at Alabama and join the Crimson Tide in May for summer school and workouts.

"Well I know I'm going to work hard, I'm going to work as hard as I can whatever they need me to do whether that's scout team or special teams or anything I'm going to work hard, get bigger get stronger and just contribute as much as I can, however they need me to," said Standeffer on his future role with the Crimson Tide.
