Utah-Based Gourmet Cookie Company to Open First Alabama Store in Tuscaloosa
A fast-growing gourmet cookie business out of Utah is working to open their first Alabama location in a Tuscaloosa shopping center.
New signage up at Midtown Village off Tuscaloosa's 15th Street and McFarland Boulevard teases the arrival of Chip Cookie Co., which was launched in 2017 by a group of Brigham Young University graduates.
The new concept delivered gourmet cookies not only to residences and business around Provo, Utah, but also straight to a fan's seat in LaVell Edwards Stadium when the Cougars hosted football games.
Now, seven years later, Chip Cookie Co. boasts more than a dozen locations in Utah and a handful in Idaho with aggressive plans to expand into other western states including Montana, Nevada, California, Arizona and Texas.
The company is also planning to open a store in Estero, Florida, and one here in Tuscaloosa in Midtown Village.
The store is under construction in Midtown Village a floor beneath the Planet Fitness gym in the middle of the shopping center. Signage on the door said Chip Cookie Co. is hiring local staff now.
Chip did not have an estimated open date on their webpage, but seem much further along than Crumbl, the gourmet cookie business who is nowhere to be found almost two years after announcing plans to open in Tuscaloosa.
