Chester George Johnson (October 29th, 1945 – July 23rd, 2026)

Chester George Johnson, 80, of Northport, Alabama, passed away at home on July 23, 2026.

A memorial service will be held on July 27, 2026, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 12:00 p.m. with service to follow at 1:00 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest H. and Lola M. Johnson; and brothers Dr. Hiram L. Johnson (Pat) and Gary Johnson (Pat).

Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Neighbors Johnson; children Misty Fanning (Brad) of Northport, Alabama, and Jay McClure of Chattanooga, Tennessee; daughter-in-law Leslie McClure of Kennesaw, Georgia; and the joys of his life, grandchildren Riley McClure, Brady Fanning and Clay Fanning.

He graduated from Century High School in 1963 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Alabama, graduating in 1972. He retired from GM/Delphi in 2001.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwood Hills Baptist Church in honor of Chester.

Chester will be missed immensely by all who knew him.
