Bryce Young Led Alabama's Offense in Opening Scrimmage

Alabama sophomore quarterback Bryce Young has large shoes to fill in 2021 replacing now New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones for the Crimson Tide. Young had a strong showing in mop up duty in 2020 and put on a show at 2021 A Day.

In the first scrimmage of Alabama fall camp 2021 on Saturday, Young pleased Coach Nick Saban and got into the endzone number of times for the Tide offense.

"I think Bryce did a good job today. I think we have to play well around Bryce. At times today, I didn’t think maybe we did as good a job as we need to. It’s all 11 guys _ it’s the offensive line. It’s the receivers. It’s all 11 guys, so that he’ll have more opportunities to make plays," said Saban. "But I think when he had opportunities today, he did a really good job. I was pleased with his performance. I’m sure if you ask him, he’ll be the first one to say he’s looking forward to working to try to improve. You know, improve the production overall in terms of the execution of our offense and that’s what’s going to make us better."

According to BamaInsider's Kyle Henderson Young threw three touchdown passes in today's live action scrimmage, much more productive than he was in this past spring's A Day Game.

Young completed 25-of-44 passes for 333 yards and a touchdown in A Day 2021. He completed 13-of-22 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in nine games of action in 2020.

He is expected to maintain Alabama's high standard of offense in 2021 as Alabama averaged 541 yards and 48.5 points per game in offense in 2020.
