Among the new information provided by the court was:
- 23-year-old Timothy St. John has been denied youthful offender status that had been requested by his attorneys.
- A ruling on the youthful offender status requested by 21-year-old Dalton Terrell will be released next month.
- Attorneys for the suspects are requesting more clarity to the wording in the indictments returned by the grand jury. They request more clarification as to when prosecutors claim the alleged acts took place and their location.
- The judge announced he is considering bringing another judge into the case so that all of the defendants can be tried relatively at the same time.
- The first suspect arrested, William McElroy and Trejo-Velazquez are expected to be the first cases to be tried. Trejo-Velazquez has been verified by authorities as a member of the Surenos gang which has a reputation for being involved with human trafficking and child sexual abuse.
As the case was initially unfolding, prosecutors said as many as ten children between 2 and 15 were allegedly victimized in an underground storm shelter in Brent. The case garnered national and international media attention as the trial(s) are expected too as well.
