BREAKING: Woman Fatally Shot in East Tuscaloosa, Investigation Underway
Police are investigating a suspected homicide after a woman was found fatally shot in east Tuscaloosa Monday afternoon.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told the Thread that police officers were called to the 600 block of East 35th Avenue on reports of a shooting.
They found a female there dead on the scene, Sellers said. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound and the VCU believes the case is a homicide.
If the death does bear out to be a homicide, it will be the record-high 20th homicide investigated in Tuscaloosa this year and the 27th in the county.
It is also the second killing in the city this week - the VCU is still asking for witnesses to a fatal shooting at the Forrester Gardens apartments on Hargrove Road last week.

Editor's note: The scene is on East 35th Avenue, not East 25th Avenue, as was briefly reported in error.
