A DPD spokesperson said the body was found under a trestle near West Jackson Street around 1 o'clock Thursday and removed by fire and rescue personnel. It has since been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery, where an autopsy will determine the victim's cause of death.

Police said the investigation is just beginning and still ongoing, and officers did not say if the body discovered belongs to either of the two adult men who were reported missing in Demopolis last month.

Police did say charges may be pursued based on the results of the autopsy.
