Boat Ramp on Tuscaloosa’s Black Warrior River Reopens, More Improvements to Come
A boat landing allowing access to the Black Warrior River near Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama campus has reopened to the public after major upgrades, and more will follow in phases still to come.
The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced in a Friday press release that they have reopened the Riverview Public Boat Ramp on the river just past the Woolsey Finnell bridge.
This part of the river between the Holt Lock & Dam and the Oliver Lock & Dam creates the William Bacon Oliver Lake.

The ramp had been closed to repair a damaged launching slab, and the WFF has poured a new concrete launch which is open now, but they did warn it will temporarily close again soon for additional upgrades.
The WFF said they have partnered with the city to repave the parking lot there and install a new access pier sometime soon.
The press release announcing the reopening said the project was partially funded by the Sport Fish Restoration Program and Innovate Alabama.
