Bama Basketball Subs Opponent: Will Host WKU Saturday
The Alabama Crimson Tide's scheduled basketball game with the Houston Cougars has been cancelled due to the Cougars dealing with COVID-19. The Crimson Tide will instead host Western Kentucky on Saturday to ensure a game is still played. The game will be at 1:00 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
The Hilltoppers are 5-2 on the young season and will step in as a late replacement for the Cougars. Western Kentucky is on a three-game winning streak entering Coleman Coliseum and the team's best win so far is likely against Memphis in the second game of the year.
Alabama is entering this game coming off a loss in the Holiday Hoopsgiving Classic against Clemson and is now 3-2 on the year. The Crimson Tide is struggling from behind the arc, shooting just 29% in the early part of the year. The game with the Hilltoppers may be what the Tide needs, Western Kentucky has given up 44% from the 3-point line.
Alabama enters a four-game homestand in December where the Tide will wrap up non-conference play with Furman, Western Kentucky and East Tennessee State and open SEC play with the Ole Miss Rebels.
Those who purchased tickets for the Houston game will be admitted into the Western Kentucky matchup without needing a new ticket.
The Crimson Tide has been led this season by guards Jahvon Quinerly and John Petty Jr., both starters are averaging 13 points per game so far this season.
