1 Arrested, 1 At Large in Thursday Shooting at Tuscaloosa’s Bent Tree Apartments
A suspect has been arrested and one still remains at large after a shooting at Tuscaloosa's Bent Tree Apartments on Hargrove Road last week.
The incident happened last Thursday, May 5th, shortly after 8 a.m., when the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to the 900 block of Hargrove Road on reports of a shooting.
A single male victim was there with a gunshot wound to the hip, and he was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
Investigators with the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit interviewed witnesses, reviewed surveillance footage and processed physical evidence and now believe two men pulled up next to the victim in a white sedan and opened fire as he ran away from them.
The evidence brought police to Eutaw, Alabama in neighboring Greene County, where they found the Acura sedan from which the shots were allegedly fired. Its owner told officers that 21-year-old Amyas Montel Mobley, who is also known by "Money," had borrowed her car the night before the shooting to drive to work in Tuscaloosa and returned it while she was asleep.
Shell casings inside the vehicle matched other casings left at the scene of the shooting and the vehicle matched witness descriptions and surveillance video. Investigators also had information that someone called "Money" was involved in the shooting.
All those factors combined gave the VCU enough probable cause to arrest Mobley this Monday.
Mobley was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond was set at $60,000.
He was no longer listed as an inmate Wednesday morning, which could indicate that he has been released on bail.
The second shooter involved in this case is still at large, stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread for more updates as they become available.
