He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold H. and Ruth Clark. He is survived by his wife, Linda Butler Clark; sister, Pat Just (George Just, M.D.); nieces, Melissa Just (Michael) Bihary; and nephews, Jordan Just and Clay (Lauren) Butler; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Arnold was born in Columbus, MS, and was raised as an Air Force brat. He lived in Maine, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, France, and Germany, but he called Tuscaloosa home and said this was the prettiest place he ever lived. He graduated from high school in Toul, France, attended the University of Maine, Munich, Germany, and graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Business. After 15 years in insurance, he decided on a career change and returned to school, and received a BS in Nursing. After working two years at DCH in the Sub-Surgical Intensive Care Vent Room, he retired from Bryce Hospital. Everyone knew he was very proud of his upbringing and his career, as every conversation included, "I'm a Registered Nurse" and something about "Being raised in the military....."
He and Linda enjoyed many years of boating, some great vacations, and ATV riding. He had a wide range of interests, from high-end stereos, fast cars, guns, and cameras (he was the school photographer while in Germany). When Arnold was interested in something new, from growing grass to learning physics, he had to learn everything possible about the topic. He loved to read instruction manuals, call the manufacturer, and speak with the technical staff.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Butler, Clay Butler, James Butler, John Baker, and Felix Rosborough. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Story, David Anders and our wonderful caregivers: Ethel Garrett, Brenda Barnes, Marie Frazier, Christy Wise, Sandy Rosborough, and our special friend, Ann Waters. Thank you to Hospice of West Alabama for their support.
