A 76-year-old McCalla man died Saturday in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 59 near Fosters, Alabama State Troopers have confirmed.

Brandon Bailey, a spokesperson for the Troopers in the region, said the victim, Jonathan Tarvin, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado south on I-59 when he left the roadway and struck a parked tractor-trailer.

Bailey said the commercial vehicle was a 2021 Freightliner being driven by a Texas man.

Tarvin, 76, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which closed the southbound lanes of the interstate for around four hours Saturday.

Bailey said the wreck took place at Mile Marker 59 in Tuscaloosa County not far from the Greene County line.

No other details were available Sunday afternoon.
