Ann Terrell Wolfe (April 11th, 1938 – August 6th, 2026)

Ann Terrell Wolfe died August 6, 2026, at the age of 88, at Hospice of West Alabama. The family will have a private service at a later date.

Born Ann Perkins Terrell in Columbia, Mississippi, on April 11, 1938, the daughter of Dr. Vernon LaGrange Terrell III and the former Marianne Perkins, she was nicknamed Perk in childhood. After graduating from the National Cathedral School for Girls in Washington, D.C., she graduated from Newcomb College in New Orleans, where she majored in French, was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and was a fourth-generation Tulane graduate. She spent her junior year in Paris at the Sorbonne and was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi. She married Richard Peel Wolfe on August 20, 1960, and moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, while he completed his studies at Harvard Law School.

In 1962, Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe moved to New Orleans, where he practiced corporate law for over fifty years. Trained to play the flute, Mrs. Wolfe had a lifelong interest in introducing children to classical music, volunteering with the New Orleans Philharmonic Symphony and serving as the city-wide coordinator of the orchestra's Kinderkonzerts program. She and her husband were patrons of the New Orleans Opera, where he also served as a board member. They made trips to New York, London, Munich and Venice to attend theatre and opera performances. She also accompanied her husband to quinquennial reunions at Princeton, which brought together a number of friends from around the country.

After moving to New Orleans, Mrs. Wolfe established a real estate listing service which gathered and compiled information for uptown real estate agents for several years. She was a member of Barbara's Book Club, the Maturing Assets investment club, the Maple Area Residents Association, Le Petit Salon, the Mayflower Society, the Daughters of the Cincinnati, and had served as a director of the Newcomb College Alumnae Association. She and her husband were members of the New Orleans Country Club, the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club, various carnival organizations and St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Wolfe was a highly accomplished seamstress. A master of garment construction, smocking, knitting, monogramming, embroidery and needlepoint, she created a large body of expertly sewn and stitched clothing and costumes for her daughters, granddaughters, and friends.

Upon her husband's retirement in 2019, the couple moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to be closer to family. She is survived by her daughters Susan Huppman (Reed) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Emily Leigh (Jack) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandchildren Alexandra Terrell Leigh, Niccolo Wolfe Leigh, Olivia Huppman DePass (Will) and Hugh Houghton Wolfe Huppman; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Ellen Terrell Gaines (Allen) of Atlanta, Georgia.
