Prior to the pandemic the Alabama Crimson Tide had secured one commitment for the 2021 recruiting class. After several months of virtual recruiting the Crimson Tide has claimed the No. 1 ranked recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite.

Alabama overtook Ohio State for the top spot in the rankings. Alabama rose from No. 2 to No. 1 in large part due to Rivals.com re-ranking several prospects and giving the Tide its No. 1 ranking. The composite compiles recruiting rankings from several services and offers up an average ranking of the classes.

Four-star inside linebacker Deontae Lawson was the only player committed to the Tide prior to the NCAA mandating an in-person dead period. Now several months later Nick Saban has secured a total of 19 commitments in the 2021 class. In total the Tide has four five-star prospects, 11 four-star prospects and four three-star prospects.

Alabama boasts one of the strongest offensive line classes in Nick Saban's history with two five-star tackles and two four-star interior players. The class could get even better should five-star tackle Amarius Mims decide to join Alabama.

Will the Big 10 and Pac-12's decision not to play football this fall hinder their programs in recruiting top talent?

Tunmise Adeleye, five-star defensive tackle from Katy, Texas was committed to Ohio State but decided to decommit and reconsider his options shortly after the Big 10 made its announcement. Adeleye was once considered an Alabama lean prior to committing to the Buckeyes.

Alabama has already flipped two prospects in Jalen Milroe and Devonta Smith, could the Tide continue its success the rest of the recruiting season and flip more to Alabama's cause?
