Alabama Sophomore Wide Receiver Enters Transfer Portal
The Alabama Crimson Tide is seeing a slew of players enter the transfer portal and the latest is sophomore receiver Javon Baker. Baker posted a tribute to his time at Alabama on his Twitter account declaring his intentions to enter the portal and move on.
Baker, a former 4-star receiver out of Powder Springs, Ga in the 2020 class recorded 9 receptions during his time in Tuscaloosa for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Baker's biggest game came against Southern Miss in 2021 where he hauled in 2 receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.
He enters the transfer portal after getting passed over for playing time by younger receivers. Alabama lost John Metchie III and Jameson Williams in the post season to knee injuries and instead the Tide turned to Ja'Corey Brooks, Traeshon Holden, Agiye Hall and Christian Leary.
The sophomore appeared in 21 games for the Tide throughout two seasons and will now look to find a place with more opportunities as Alabama is bringing in several highly rated receivers in the 2022 recruiting class.
