Democrats Set Redistricting Public Discussion At State House
Democrats continue to ramp up their opposition to Republican plans to redraw congressional district lines, cutting at least one majority-minority district. The latest activity is a "Call to Action" set for Wednesday.
The Alabama House Democratic Caucus (AHDC) will hold "Report to the People," a live voter briefing, tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon. Caucus leaders will convene in the Third Floor Press Room at the Alabama State House, and the briefing will be simultaneously live streamed to voters statewide.

Persons interested can register for the Live Update at ProtectOurMaps.com. The website is a live information hub for voters during the Alabama Special Session on redistricting. Real-time updates from House Dems, schedules, livestreams, hearings, and the actions you can take can be found there.
The website includes multiple links to live streaming of each legislative session, a session schedule, daily floor updates, a copy of Governor Ivey's proclamation ordering the special session, a ling for voters to find their individual senators and house members, and Democratic Caucus press releases.
Democrats, led by West Alabama Congresswoman Terri Sewell and South Alabama Congressman Shomari Figures, have already conducted two rallies at the Alabama Statehouse and a townhall at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham. There are other activities planned as the special session continues through the week.
Bills ordering redistricting have already been passed by house and senate committee. They now await word from the Atlanta 11th U.S. Circuit Court on whether the state will be allowed to redistrict before 2030 or not.
