Alabama head coach Nick Saban is still tinkering with his staff for the upcoming 2021 season. Saban has replaced all the on-field coaches who left for other jobs this offseason however he is still adding to the analyst room having lost Charlie Strong, Mike Stoops and several other analysts in this offseason.

The defending national champions welcome Mark Orphey into the football program as a new defensive analyst according to AL.com's Matt Zenitz. Orphey has spent the last two seasons as defensive backs coach for Utah State.

Orphey played cornerback at Texas Southern and made All Southwestern Conference in his junior and senior seasons. He spent his first two years in coaching at Texas Southern before coming to the SEC to work as a quality control coach at South Carolina in 2013. Ophrey spent two more seasons as a graduate assistant with the Gamecocks and then left to become the secondary coach at Montana State in 2017.

The 31-year old spent two seasons with Montana State and then took the defensive backs job at Utah State. He leaves his on-field role for the Aggies to take the analyst role in Tuscaloosa to learn from Saban and his experienced staff.

Orphey joins Bill O'Brien, Jay Graham, Doug Marrone, Robert Gillespie, Jay Valai, Will Lawing and Ron Cooper as new members of the Alabama football program for the 2021 seasons.
