A West AL Furniture Fixture Celebrated 75 Years of Business Sunday
A celebration to 75 years of local service for one of the community's largest furniture distributors was held at the historical Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center Sunday.
Current and former Spiller Furniture employees along with others close to the business were on hand to celebrate
Prior to showcasing some of West Alabama's best when it comes to art, the venue once was home to the original family-owned and operated Spiller Furniture gallery.
While the showroom is no longer one of Spiller's 13 locations, the business that started there 75 years ago remains in the family's possession.
Day-to-day operations in 2023 run through the founder James Spiller's grandson, Shane, who started working at the downtown location in 1995 after graduating from college.
With his father, Mike, buying control of the business from siblings in 1992, Shane was named President in 2004 where he's served since.
Current showrooms for the West Alabama staple can be found in Aliceville, Brent, Columbus (MS), Demopolis, Eutaw, Greensboro, Northport, Prattville, Reform, Selma, Starkville, Thomasville and Tuscaloosa.
