Take time out to enjoy the Perry County Christmas Bash with the Love is What Love Does organization. This bash takes place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from Noon until 4:00 pm at the City Hall in Uniontown, Alabama.

Founded by LaQuenna Lewis and also serves as the Executive Director, The Love is What Love Does is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Lewis said that the mission is to “enrich the lives of disadvantaged citizens and develop their environment through programs and activities that encourage personal growth and community participation.” Their main focus areas are food security, nutrition education, emergency assistance, and disaster relief.

The Christmas Bash will be an outdoor event, masks will be required and all of Perry County is welcome to enjoy some holiday activities. According to the City of Uniontown, Alabama Facebook page, they want you to “Come out for some fun, music and good food. Open to all of Perry County. Remember that you bless someone in need this holiday season by blessing Love Is What Love Does.” Also, the Facebook post notes that there will be “free toys, food and weather radios, plus a live DJ.” The weather radios are pre-programmed by James Spann for the Perry County community. They were donated through our community partners in Birmingham. It will be one per household while supplies last.

In hosting this event for Perry County, Lewis felt it was important to show support during such strenuous times. She wants everyone to know that the Perry County Christmas Bash is an “opportunity for ALL to share a smile, laugh, and create a memory. The event will consist of Marion and Uniontown vendors and well as supporters from Birmingham and other areas.”

Lewis also feels that in “order to change a community you have to offer support throughout the year via various programs and activities that promote personal growth.”
