A suspect is in police custody after a shooting in Tuscaloosa injured one late Saturday night.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers were called to the 1000 block of 13th Street near the Lofts apartment complex to investigate what a caller believed to be drug activity.

While officers were en route to the area, shots were apparently fired around 11:30 Saturday night.

Taylor said one victim suffered minor injures -- police believe they may have been struck by broken bullet fragments, not a direct hit.

The victim was treated at DCH Regional Medical Center while TPD's Cyber Intel division scanned security camera footage shot in the area and identified a vehicle being used by the suspect.

Almost two hours exactly after the first call came in, TPD officers pulled the vehicle over and took the suspect into custody without further incident at 1:24 a.m. Sunday.

As of 9:30 Sunday morning, the suspect had yet to be formally charged or publicly identified. For more details on this developing story as they are made available, stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread.
