1 Dead in Single-Vehicle Crash in Tuscaloosa’s Alberta City
Emergency vehicles swarmed Tuscaloosa's Alberta City after a fatal single-vehicle accident there Thursday evening.
A spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department told the Tuscaloosa Thread that the scene was still active and under investigation at 5:30 Thursday, but confirmed the wreck on University Boulevard near Alberta Baptist Church was fatal.
In an 8 p.m. update, TPD spokeswoman Stephane Taylor said the wreck occured shortly after 5 p.m. around 2210 University Boulevard.
She said the victim was the sole occupant of a pickup truck that left the road and crashed into a utility pole at the corner of University and 22nd Avenue on the western side of Alberta Baptist Church.
The driver was pronounced dead on the scene, Taylor said.
His identity and further information will be released after family members have been notified and TPD continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
