At Least 1 Dead in 5-Car Collision at Busy Tuscaloosa Intersection
At least one person was killed Sunday morning in a five-car collision at one of Tuscaloosa's busiest intersections.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said the accident happened just after 9:30 Sunday morning at McFarland Boulevard and 15th Street / Veterans Memorial Parkway next to Midtown Village, the University Mall and the Shoppes at Legacy Park.
She confirmed at least one person was killed in the wreck and said officers were still working the scene at 10:30 Sunday morning.
Taylor said one of the drivers involved was an on-duty Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Trooper, but said his injuries were only minor.
Taylor urged drivers to avoid the area until further notice, as TPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit is still there investigating.
