Students within the Greene County School System will attend classes virtually for two more weeks as the school district attempts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Greene County Schools announced Friday that the remote learning period has been extended through September 21. Students have been attending class virtually since August 20.

The announcement comes on the same day the Alabama Department of Public Health is expected to fully update its K-12 COVID-19 dashboard. The highly contagious Delta variant continues to spread across West Alabama with DCH Health System now treating more COVD-19 patients on ventilators than at any other point in the pandemic.
