Woman Seriously Injured in Shooting at Tuscaloosa Apartment Complex Wednesday
A woman has been seriously hurt in a shooting at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex Wednesday night.
Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, confirmed the shooting to the Thread shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Reports of a shooting at the Lofts at City Center apartments on Tuscaloosa's 15th Street began to spread on social media around 11 p.m.
Sellers said little information was available so soon after the incident, but confirmed a female victim was shot and suffered injuries he called serious.
In a morning update, Sellers said the victim is a 22-year-old female who lives in Tuscaloosa and was shot multiple times.
He said the victim and several other people were at an apartment along with the suspect, Larry Jones Jr. who allegedly became aggressive toward the victim during an argument and began a physical altercation.
"The victim was ultimately shot during the scuffle and suffered life-threatening injuries." Sellers said. "She was transported to a medical facility where she was stabilized but remains in critical condition. After the initial investigation was completed, Mr. Jones was charged with Attempted Murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with bond to be set by Judge."
