A head-on collision between a small SUV and a pickup truck left a West Alabama woman dead and a Northport man injured, State Troopers confirmed Saturday.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in West Alabama, said 30-year-old Casey M. Jackson was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva that collided head-on with a 2005 Ford F-150 a few minutes before midnight Friday.

The wreck happened on Highway 43 approximately two miles north of Northport city limits, King said.

Jackson, a Berry woman, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and did not survive her injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 33-year-old Northport man, was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

King said Troopers are still investigating what caused the deadly accident and no further details were available Saturday.
