Large crowds at bars within the Druid City this weekend have many concerned--including Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox.

Mayor Maddox responded to viral photos of crowds at Temerson Square's Rhythm and Brews on Friday, September 25.

"The pictures/reports from last night showed several bars in the Downtown/University corridor exceeding occupancy limits," Maddox said.

"There will be a heavier presence [in the future] & will issue even more tickets. Please help us to keep moving forward & not backwards in the fight against COVID-19," he added.

The photos, which have since been deleted, show a crowd of patrons within the bar. Those within the photos are not seen practicing social distancing or wearing a mask.
