Veteran's Day may have been yesterday, but the Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency is continuing its recognition of those who have served this afternoon. TCEMA is providing a "Weather Radio Giveaway" between 1:00pm and 3:00pm at the McAbee Activity Center located at 3801 Loop Road (in front of the VA Medical Center}. This is the fourth consecutive year for the giveaway to veterans to provide them an easy way to receive severe weather alerts, watches and earnings. \

Tuscaloosa County EMA Director Nick Lolley says this is the agency's way to thank those who have sacrificed for their country. “I think we need to thank our veterans and I appreciate what they’ve done for us and are still doing,” Lolley said. “We’re thanking them and telling them about severe weather at the same time. These radios give owners advanced time to react to approaching severe weather and could save lives."
Veterans will be given demonstrations on how to operate their new devices, which will already be programmed for receive weather information for Tuscaloosa County.
