One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash in Northport
An unidentified man was killed in an early morning crash in Northport that also left a Gordo man seriously injured.
According to a release from Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter, Northport Police, along with Northport Fire and Rescue and NorthStar Ambulance service responded to a traffic accident near the 41 mile marker of McFarland Boulevard in Northport at 12:19 a.m..
Carpenter said a 2013 Kia Soul driven by the victim collided head-on with a 2020 Toyota Camry driven by a 22-year-old Gordo man. Carpenter said the preliminary investigation revealed the deceased was traveling east in the westbound lanes of McFarland Boulevard when collision took place.
The release said the men were taken to the hospital and the unidentified man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Gordo man was listed in stable condition.
Carpenter said the accident is under investigation by the NPD Traffic Reconstruction Unit.
