University of Alabama Student Center Evacuated for Small Fire Friday
The University of Alabama's Student Center was evacuated Friday after a "small fire" inside the building, the school said on social media.
Using their @UA_Safety Twitter account and other platforms, the University said a small fire was reported in the Student Center Friday.
UA has not said if the fire damaged the building and said it will remain closed as firefighters respond and clear smoke from the area.
The Student Center is a central hub for those studying at the Capstone and includes seven dining Centers including Chick-fil-A, Starbucks and more.
UPDATE: The University has re-opened the buidling.
WBRC's Christina Chambers was inside the Student Center at the time of the incident and shared video of the conflagration, which appears to have been contained to a purse.
