Tyler Booker Signs with the Crimson Tide
Tyler Booker has signed his letter of intent to play for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. In July, he committed to the Tide over Georgia, Florida, Ohio State and Oregon. Booker is the sixth-ranked OT nationally and seventh ranked overall in Florida, according to 247sports.
Booker started at RT for an IMG Academy team that went 8-0 and won a national championship. He was also featured as a FB and lead blocker in the red zone, where he had two carries. The 6-foot-5 recruit announced his commitment to Alabama with a throwback photo of Nick Saban and himself at the 2015 Nick Saban's Football Camp.
Football is nothing new to Booker, as his uncle was also a football player. Ulish Booker played at Michigan State as an offensive tackle and won Super Bowl XL with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before his junior season, the Alabama commit saw himself as a defensive player, but he went to the offensive side of the ball and started playing right tackle.
Booker has the skills and leadership to be a multiyear starter for the Tide. He uses his agility to get outside of the tackle box and help open up run lanes. Once he has eyes set on his target, Booker can quickly find leverage to direct tacklers out of the way.
Booker was recruited by offensive line coach Doug Marrone and running backs coach Robert Gillespie. He will participate in the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando on Sunday, January 2, at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN2. Booker will enroll at Alabama in January and major in Sports Psychology.
