Tuscaloosa VCU Suspects Foul Play After Body Found, Police Seek Homeless Person of Interest
Police in Tuscaloosa are asking for help finding a possibly homeless person of interest in connection to a suspicious death outside the Alconon Club building Tuesday morning.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to the building at 2025 Jack Warner Parkway on a suspicious death Tuesday.
Although the local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous regularly meets there, they do not own the property.
Kennedy said the victim was Russell Thomas Andrews, age 62. Police suspect foul play in his death.
Kennedy said the VCU is now searching for a person of interest who was last seen Monday night around 10:00 PM.
Kennedy said the person is only known to police as J.P., and his last name may be Patrick.
"He is described as a white male, approximately 50 years of age, dark hair and eyes, approximately 5’11 tall and 180 lbs. He wears glasses and often wear a soft hat of some sort," Kennedy said. "He may be missing toes on one or both feet and walks with a limp."
He described the man as reportedly homeless, but having spent the last several weeks in the Tuscaloosa area.
Anyone who has any possible information on “J.P.” is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121.
