A male victim had been shot twice while walking near Bonita Terrace Apartments and was able to give police a partial description of the suspect responsible.

Other witnesses told police the shooter fled the area and ended up on a residence on Meadow Lawn Drive.

"After investigation, the suspect was identified as Derrick Anthony White, age 44," Kenedy said. "The homeowner was contacted and advised that White was inside the residence.  White refused commands to exit the residence, so it was secured and the Tuscaloosa Police Swat Team was called to the scene.  White eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody."

The 44-year-old shooting suspect was eventually charged with one count of attempted murder after the VCU conducted a follow-up investigation after he was apprehended.

White remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on no bond on Wednesday.
