Tuscaloosa Salon Owner Appointed to State Cosmetology Board
Misty Garrison, owner and stylist at Tuscaloosa's BloGo Salon and Skin Wellness, has been appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering.
According to a biography on her salon's website, Garrison, the wife of former Tuscaloosa city councilman Lee Garrison, started in the beauty industry in 1999 as an apprentice at a beauty salon in Mountain Brook, a suburban community in Birmingham.
Garrison has more than two decades of experience in coloring, styling and cutting.
In a letter shared with the Thread, Governor Ivey said she appreciates Garrison for her willingness to serve in this capacity and is confident she will "render valuable services to the citizens of Alabama."
"As one of my appointees, you will be making important decisions that directly affect the citizens of Alabama," Ivey wrote. "I have made honesty and integrity a priority in my administration, and I know that you will embody these two virtues while serving the people of Alabama."
Garrison will serve as a representative of the Congressional District 4, replacing Tracy Smith. The position became effective on August 16 and will expire on May 18, 2026.
