The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter needs help again - the week after re-opening to the public in the wake of a distemper outbreak that killed more than 50 dogs, the shelter is too full.

Foster families and adoptions are urgently needed, shelter staff said in a Thursday night post on Facebook.

"Metro Animal Shelter is FULL," they wrote. "Today, 14 dogs were brought in by animal control (ALL 4 trucks arrived around 2 PM). We now have **22 dogs in the garage**, and the shelter is at capacity."

TMAS said some of the animals brought in by Animal Control may belong to area residents - they urged anyone missing a pet to come to the shelter on Investigator Dornell Cousette Street in person and check.

Because of the number of dogs in the shelter right now, staff said it may take several days to photograph them and get pictures online - the fastest way to check for a missing pet is in person.

Follow the shelter on social media, and learn more about the animals they're housing and how to foster or adopt them on their website here.
