Police in Tuscaloosa are on the scene of a deadly car accident near Hargrove Road Monday morning.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the area of Hargrove Road and 45th Street East around 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Taylor said an SUV struck a residential fence and tree, leading nearby residents to call police and paramedics to the scene.

Taylor said first responders got to the crash site in minutes, but a female driver of the SUV did not survive and was pronounced dead on the scene.

TPD's Traffic Homicide Unit, which investigates almost all deadly accidents that occur within city limits, will handle the case, and updates on this accident are expected later Monday.
