Tuscaloosa Police Officer Charged With Possession of Child Pornography
A Tuscaloosa Police Officer has been fired and arrested after investigators discovered child pornography on electronic devices belonging to him, the department announced Monday.
In a Monday press release, a TPD spokesperson said the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force received information that TPD officer Corey Nicholas Burcham, 35, may have had illegal images or videos saved to electronic devices he owned.

Investigators with the task force seized a phone belonging to Burcham and reportedly found multiple images that showed child sex abuse material on the device.
Warrants were obtained Monday to charge Burcham with 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and he was arrested by other TPD officers at his home Monday afternoon.
“When we first learned of these allegations last week, we began the necessary procedures that Burcham will ensure he never works as a police officer again,” Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley said in a release. “We have zero tolerance for actions that undermine the public trust and harm children. The individual involved no longer serves in any capacity with the department.”
The Department said Burcham worked as a patrol officer from January 2019 until last Wednesday. He remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Monday afternoon with bond to be set by a judge.
UPDATE: TPD has provided a mugshot of the now-fired officer and it has been added to this report.
