The Tuscaloosa Police Department and investigators with the multi-agency Violent Crimes Unit were investigating a fatal shooting late Wednesday night at a gas station south of the downtown area.

VCU Commander Captain Jack Kennedy said officers were called to the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Greensboro Avenue and James I Harrison Parkway at the Marathon service station next to Dave's Crimson Bar around 9:30 Wednesday night.

Kennedy did not immediately share details of the shooting, but the Tuscaloosa Police Department said in a Facebook post that a passenger in a car at the gas station was fatally wounded by shots fired from another vehicle traveling on Greensboro Avenue.
