Investigators in Tuscaloosa have identified the 24-year-old man who was shot and killed at University Manor Apartments late Friday night and are asking for anyone who knows more about the homicide to come forward and talk to them.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to 5th Place and 30th Place East in the University Manor complex around midnight Friday on reports of a shooting.

The victim, 24-year-old Larry Deashean Cameron, was dead at the scene of the shooting.

Kennedy said the VCU is conducting an active investigation and wants to talk to anyone who witnessed the shooting or knows more about it.

He also said detectives have developed persons of interest they are seeking to interview.

"Anyone who was present and witnessed any aspect of this incident is strongly encouraged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 205-464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-349-2121," Kennedy said.
