Tuscaloosa Police Arrest 3 After “Machine Gun Fire” at Apartments
Three men were arrested Sunday after they allegedly fired hundreds of rounds from assault-style rifles at McKenzie Court apartments, according to a Tuscaloosa Police Department spokeswoman.
Stephanie Taylor, TPD's public information officer, said officers were called to the public housing complex just before noon Sunday after multiple 911 callers reported that men "were shooting hundreds of rounds from machine guns" inside the complex.
Officers responded and saw a silver BMW leaving the scene, which they were able to stop in the area of I-359 and 35th Street.
Taylor said officers searched the vehicle and found two pistols, including one that had been reported stolen in Tuscaloosa, a 22-caliber rifle with a 25-round magazine and a larger-caliber short-barreled rifle with a 100-round magazine.
Officers also found THC oil, two bags of marijuana, a ski-mask and gloves.
Three men were arrested: 18-year-old Robert Johnson, who was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, and 20-year-old Jaiveon Dubose and 19-year-old Kenneth Duncan, both of whom were charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
Taylor said the investigation is ongoing and the men are expected to face additional charges in the future.
