A special prom celebration for those living with special needs will bring hundreds of people to a Tuscaloosa church next month for their Night to Shine.

The annual event is hosted globally by the Tim Tebow Foundation at churches across the world on February 7th. Our local event will be at The Church at Tuscaloosa from 6 to 9 p.m. CST.

This magical night is for people with special needs who are 14 or older, and an event organizer told the Thread they expect about 300 guests and 400 volunteers to participate next month.

"From the moment guests arrive, they are showered with love and care," a TCAT spokesperson said. "Whether walking the red carpet, enjoying dinner, dancing the night away, or being crowned as kings and queens of the prom, every single person is celebrated for who they are and the incredible value they bring to our world."

The Church at Tuscaloosa is looking for more volunteers for the Night to Shine next month, donors to make it the best it can be, and messengers to spread the word and raise awareness.

"Tuscaloosa is home to some extraordinary people, and this event is a powerful way to honor, love, and include individuals with special needs," an event spokesperson said.
"It’s an evening that reminds us all of the inherent worth and dignity of every person, while creating a space for connection, joy, and unforgettable memories."
