Tuscaloosa Man Arrested for Shooting Ex-Girlfriend’s Tire After Breakup
A Tuscaloosa man faces felony charges for shooting his ex-girlfriend's car tire following a breakup Monday evening.
According to court documents obtained by the Tuscaloosa Thread, police responded to a residence in Hay Court Apartments in West Tuscaloosa around 7:15 p.m. where police found 31-year-old Ronald Bernard Williams, Jr. at the scene.
Williams allegedly told investigators his girlfriend was kicking him out of the apartment. The document stated as he packed his belongings, he remembered he recently gave her money to replace the front tires of her car.
"He thought she was going to try to leave before he could take back the tires he paid for, so he got his handgun and shot into the front driver's side tire, flattening it," the document stated.
The victim also confirmed Williams fired a shot at her vehicle, striking the tire. Investigators said they found where the projectile struck the tire and also recovered both a bullet and shell casing from the scene.
Williams was arrested and charged with felony discharge of a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle and was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Jail records did not list Williams as an inmate Tuesday afternoon, indicating he may have been released on bond.
