Women’s Store in Tuscaloosa’s University Mall Closing After 10 Years, Everything Must Go
Managers announced this week that a women's clothing store in Tuscaloosa's University Mall will permanently close after a decade there.
Maurices, which first opened in the indoor mall in 2011, is described on its website as "the leading small town specialty store and authority for the savvy, fashion-conscious customer with a twenty-something attitude."
The retail chain was founded in Duluth, Minnesota almost 100 years ago in 1931 and now boasts around 1,000 locations across North America.
Tuscaloosa's store will close on December 21st, a manager said on social media Tuesday. Until then, the store will not receive new inventory, and employees are working to sell off what remains at steep discounts.
The store's fixtures are also up for sale, and buyers looking for tables, clothing racks, mannequins and more may find deals on those still left at Maurices.
At this time, there are no plans to relocate the store elsewhere in the Tuscaloosa area when its longtime home in the mall closes in December.
