Tuscaloosa’s Walkout To Protest Trump Policies
Another march to protest the policies of the Trump Administration is planned for Tuscaloosa and nationwide on Tuesday, January 20 from 2:00pm until 3:00 at the Shelby Federal Building in downtown Tuscaloosa. The protest is in the form of a walkout where participants are being encouraged to walk out of work, school or whatever they are involved in.
The “Tuscaloosa Free America Walkout" is sponsored by The Women's March. In an answer to "Frequently Asked Questions" on the movement's website, the goal of the walkout is stated as "collective escalation - and a test."

"Those in power have escalated attacks on our rights, our bodies, and our livelihoods. We’re escalating in response. Walking out lets us stress-test our readiness for real, collective action—not just symbolic protest." says the answer.
"It tests whether we can move together, organize across workplaces and communities, and build the muscle for non-compliance and action-based resistance. Just as importantly, it brings us together to start building a Free America—a feminist America that is economically just, racially equitable, and safe for immigrants—alongside our coworkers, classmates, family, and friends.
"This is how we prepare for bigger fights ahead."
There were a number of protests of Trump Administration policies throughout last year at or near the Shelby Federal Building. Most turned out a couple of hundred people of all ages and backgrounds. This event is billed as a " Walk out on fascism and walk toward a Free America."
So far more than 150 walkouts are planned across the country, all between January 17the and the 20th.
The Women's March website encourages the walkout to, "...to block the normal routines of power and make the stakes real. This is a protest and a promise. In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable."
