The hardworking employees of the Tuscaloosa County School System will once again receive some extra spending money this holiday season after a Tuesday night board vote.

Terri Brewer, a spokesperson for the schools, said the board of education approved a one-time “extraordinary compensation supplement" for their employees.

Brewer said this is different from a bonus and can only be paid out to employees who are returning for the Spring semester in 2025 - state law requires the payment be for work that is expected to be completed in the future.

Still, Brewer said those full-time employees who are eligible will receive $350 in December before this semester ends - this is a pre-budgeted expense to thank employees and has been paid out for the past several years.
