POLICE: Man Killed by Fellow Inmate inside Tuscaloosa County Jail Tuesday
A 26-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after a brutal fight with another inmate at the Tuscaloosa County Jail, police sources have confirmed.
Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the victim, Christopher Lee, and 22-year-old Laquinton Richardson got into an argument inside the jail around 9:40 Tuesday morning.
The disagreement led to a fight, and Lee was gravely injured in the altercation.
Sellers said Lee was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment, but died there hours after the fight.
Richardson, who was in jail on two misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and attempting to elude a police officer, has been formally charged with manslaughter.
Both Lee and Richardson are Tuscaloosa residents, Sellers said.
