Keith Carpenter, Assistant Chief of the Northport Police Department, confirmed to The Thread Wednesday morning that the driver, 17-year-old Kylee Whitson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy also in the car, both TCHS students, were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A GoFundMe has been set up by Lucy Flowers, a relative of Whitson's, to offset incoming expenses. Several loved ones took to social media to share memories of Whitson. She was a senior at TCHS, and a member of the school's marching band.
