It’s Tommy Tuberville vs Doug Jones for Governor in November
It will officially be Tommy Tuberville vs Doug Jones vying for the Alabama governorship in the November General Election. Republican Primary distant runner-up Ken McFeeters' challenge of the one-term U.S. Senator's residency was rejected in a hearing of the GOP State Executive Committee this afternoon.
The Jefferson County insurance executive's second challenge of Tuberville's official residence ended the way the first did in January, with the special meeting in Birmingham ruling that Tuberville's residence is in Auburn, not in Florida, as McFeeters claimed.
The state constitution requires all constitutional officers to meet a seven-year residency in the state to be qualified to serve.

Despite ruling against McFeeters', state GOP Chairman Scott Stadthagen told the media the steering committee members went into the hearing with an open mind.
The Tuberville campaign has repeatedly called McFeeters' challenge a joke.
Attorneys for both sides were given 45 minutes to make their presentations before the committee. Afterward, the committee examined each side's presentation and voted to rule McFeeters' challenge invalid and to allow Tuberville to remain on the ballot as the party's nominee.
The committee then released a statement about the private proceedings stating that the committee’s decision followed a thorough and impartial review of evidence and sworn testimony presented by opposing sides during an hours-long hearing in Birmingham....
“We instructed the committee members to set aside politics and partisanship and base their decision solely upon clarity and common sense.
Coach Tuberville provided the evidence necessary to establish beyond any doubt that he fully meets the residency requirements to serve as governor, and the challenge failed to present any evidence that proved otherwise.
It is time for the ALGOP to firmly close and lock this chapter and turn our full attention toward defeating liberal Democrat Doug Jones, increasing our supermajorities in both chambers of the Legislature, reclaiming the congressional seat that federal judges wrongly denied us, and keeping Alabama the brightest red Republican state in the nation.
The Democrats’ willing accomplices and allies in the liberal media will no doubt continue pursuing a false narrative in order to sow doubt, generate clicks, and prop up the flailing Doug Jones candidacy, but we are confident that Alabamians will see through their fake news bias and award Republicans a landslide win in November.”
The Alabama Constitution of 2022 requires governors to be at least 30 years of age when elected, a citizen of the United States for 10 years, and a resident of the state for seven years.
Among the evidence submitted by Tuberville were state tax records, property and home ownership records, drivers' licenses, voter registration, and other corroborating material demonstrating his residency.
