The Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama System will vote on adding an "Athletic Competition Arena" to the Campus Master Plan for its Tuscaloosa campus this week, according to a meeting agenda made public Wednesday afternoon.

The Trustees, who oversee the University in Tuscaloosa, UAB in Birmingham and UAH in Huntsville, will also vote to approve the final budget for more renovations at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The group will meet at the UAB Hill Student Center Ballroom Thursday afternoon and Friday morning to discuss a large number of issues across the three campuses, but those two agenda items are sure to capture the attention of Alabama sports fans.

Chronologically first is "Consideration of Resolution approving the final project budget for the Bryant-Denny Stadium Renovation and Addition at UA (Revised Stage II)."

Further down the Board's agenda is a second item, "Consideration of Resolution approving the preliminary project scope and budget and amendment of the Campus Master Plan for the Athletics Competition Arena at UA (Stage I)."

The details to be considered by the board were not included on the agenda released Wednesday, but it is nearly certain the "competition arena" refers to the long-discussed renovation or replacement of Coleman Coliseum, where the Crimson Tide plays men's and women's basketball and where the gymnastics team hosts its meets.

The Board will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.
